TANS is an advocate for non-public education in Texas, representing early childhood, elementary, and secondary levels. TANS works to ensure that:

1. Non-public schools exist and are free to develop and implement their individual missions and objectives.
2. The independence of non-public education is protected.
3. Members benefit from the dissemination of information.
4. The public perceives non-public education as credible and positive.
5. All non-public schools are treated equitably.
